Day 15 ~ March SOLSC
I tiptoe into Emma’s room to give her a good morning kiss. It’s 5:30am, so I am careful not to really wake her. I lean over, give her a kiss and freeze.
Hmmm her cheek feels hot. Maybe she’s just hot from being bundled up in her blanket? True, but why would her cheek be so hot? She doesn’t have her face under her covers.
I feel around to the back of her neck….burning.
I feel her tummy….burning.
Oh no, this can’t be happening again. She just had a virus a few weeks ago.
I grab the thermometer and go back to take her temp…..yup 101.5. I take her temp in the other ear…101.4. One more time in the first ear…101.2
Ugh, this poor kid. First the infected pimple on her leg to start the week and now a fever to end the week.
I wake her a teeny bit to tell her she has a fever and to give her Motrin. She doesn’t even fight me…wow she must be feeling junky. My poor girl gets a Friday off, but not for anything good. Hoping the weekend gets better…
I’m participating in the March Slice of Life Story Challenge! Thank you to the team of writers at Two Writing Teachers for this wonderful writing community. A place for us to grow together as writers.
Poor girl. I always take the temp more than once when it’s high… like it might change. Hope. I hope she feels better soon.

Thank you! Of course the fever stayed away all day when she was with my mom and came back when I got home! Hoping it’s short lived

I wish her a speedy recovery! I’m confident she’ll feel well soon.

Hopefully she feels better soon! Why do we take their temp more than once if it”s high? I do it too.

I don’t miss those days, but now I worry about my grandchildren. I have an Emma too!

Oh no! Hope she’s feeling better soon–and that no one else gets sick. I really liked how you blended your inner dialogue with yourself with description of your actions. I want to try that craft move out myself!
