Day 17 – March SOLSC
Saturday mornings have changed quite a bit for me in the past 3 months…
Then
No alarm set.
Wake up and go make some coffee.
While coffee brews, plop down on the couch and turn on some Food network or HGTV.
Get cup of coffee, and back to the couch for binge TV watching.
Sip coffee and watch whatever show is on (Fixer Upper? The Kitchen?)
Go back and get another cup of coffee.
Back to the couch. Stay in pajamas for a long long time.
Lazy, lazy, lazy mornings.
Now
Alarm set for 7 am.
Snooze once, and then up to make coffee.
Get dressed for the gym – black leggings and a tank top. Put my hair in a pony tail and brush my teeth.
Pour some cereal.
Enjoy a cup of coffee and cereal while watching HGTV or Food Network.
Fill up water bottle, get gym bag, and out the door by 8:30am.
9:00am – important date with my personal trainer for an hour of curls, flies, presses, kettle bells, dead lifts, squats, lunges – aka torture!
No more lazy Saturday mornings for me. I’m finally taking care of myself and getting stronger both physically and mentally. I’ve never felt better and still have time to relax.
I’m participating in the March Slice of Life Story Challenge! Thank you to the team of writers at Two Writing Teachers for this wonderful writing community. A place for us to grow together as writers.
I love this idea of then and now. Your post shows how your priorities have changed.

I found myself envying the then. I found myself a little exhausted by the now – lol.

I’m still finding a balance. I need to marry the then and now! Lol

I’m not sure I could shift my Saturday mornings that drastically, but I really like how you contrasted then and now. It’s a great slice structure. I also admire your determination to make healthy choices for yourself. Good for you!

It took a trip to the ER for what ended up being a panic attack. That’s a slice for another time

You picked a great format to contrast the differences between these two mornings. The last line (“I’ve never felt better, and I still have time to relax,”) is so perfect right after the description of torture. This is the motivation I’ve been needing to stick with my exercise routine. Thanks for sharing!

It definitely feels like torture. But in a good way. Lol

Keep up the great work – with writing and at the gym!! You affirmed some things I’m trying to do, too.

I have been doing the same thing and finally feel great about how I eat, excercise and look. I have been here before then for some reason when I get stressed throw it all out the window. I am convinced this is forever this time!

I finally feel good about myself too! This will be a priority from now on!

I too love the comparison set up of your slice. I used to do weights and understand what you’re saying about feeling better than ever. I let it slack. Your slice has inspired me!

I really like the format here. I enjoyed seeing the little things that stayed the same, even though I know the focus was on what changed. I noticed in the comments that an anxiety attack provoked your change. To that I say: hats off to you! What fortitude it requires to take care of ourselves. Keep at it!

Seriously. Took a scare for me to wake up and start taking care of myself

I use to be like this. I need to get back into this mindset. I definitely understand the feeling of even though you’re sore it still feels amazing!

I call it the “good sore”. In the beginning it wasn’t a good sore at all. Lol
