A Celebration with Poetry

Every week Ruth Ayres extends an invitation to share a celebration. What a great way to focus on something to celebrate! #celebratelu

This week I’m celebrating joy through poetry.  While I sat watching my daughter ride her new bike, the only word that came to my mind was joy.  She was coasting up and down the street, bobbing her head, and singing a song.  Joy on her face and joy on mine.  I tried to capture the joy in this poem.

Up and down

Back and forth

Singing and pedaling

Coasting along

No more, “I don’t want a bike.”

No more, “It’s too hard for me.”

No more, “I’m just scared.”

Up and down

Back and forth

Singing and pedaling

Coasting along

“It’s my favorite!” – she yells

“When can I ride?” – she asks

“I love love love my bike!” – she exclaims

Up and down

Back and forth

Singing and pedaling

Coasting along

With the breeze blowing through her hair…

Pure joy!
